Right, Jeri.

Now, say, there are troublesome young men in my town who wander around at their wits end (which is never that far away...) looking for excitement, maybe some trouble they can cause, something to ease their general unconscious level of hostility and frustration.

What if I were to remark loudly as each of these fellows went by on the sidewalk, "LOOK at that disgusting excuse for a human being! What an asshole he is! We need to do something about jerks like that in order to have a decent town."

Heh! ;-D As if I was so foolish. What do you think would happen if I were to make such remarks and draw the hostile attentions of such lowlifes?

Hmmmm?

Well, when you engage in endless tirades on the Internet about various groups of people you don't like...and the Internet, after all, IS exactly like a public intersection in a town with anyone at all walking by in easy earshot.... then what happens?

You get a response from those people you don't like. And it's not the response you were hoping for.

That's why I say, IF you want folk music to get proper exposure endorsing the social causes you feel are good causes...then your point of actual power is to go out into the world...not onto Mudcat Cafe...and PLAY folk music in support of the good causes you endorse.

Your point of no power at all is to engage in long, bitter diatribes on this forum about the people who happen to be using folk music in a way you don't like. That may make you feel great for a short while...but it changes nothing.

And in the meantime, I think you are drawing ants to the picnic.
