SWEET BLACK-EYED FLIRT
Words, J. H. Hanson. Music, Frank Wood.
St. Paul, Minn.: Munger Bros., 1872.

1. There's a beautiful maiden, as fair as I've seen,
With black flashing eye and the air of a queen.
Her lips red as corals, her teeth rival pearls.
She sure has no equal 'mong heartbreaking girls.
If on you she casts her bright piercing glance,
Your heart it will wound. 'Twill be fatal, perchance.
Beware, ye young men, of the dart from her eyes,
Of her sweet dimpling smile, and her low tender sighs.

2. There are some noble fellows who truly believe
That a maid such as this one can never deceive.
They think she is truthful, believe her sincere,
When talking the nonsense they so love to hear.
Do not trust, my dear boy, to her heartbreaking darts.
Her sole business in life is the breaking of hearts!
She will lead you astray, so be on the alert.
Keep your distance, young chap, from the sweet black-eyed flirt.
