THE LITTLE FLIRT
As sung and danced by Baby Benson.
Composed by R. Swan Jr.
Boston: G. D. Russell & Company, 1874.
1. As through the park I took my way,
In latest fashion dressed,
The golden sun of summer's day
Was sinking in the west.
Within the ramble's grateful shade,
While straying for a seat,
I spied the sweetest, fairest maid
I ever chanced to meet. Ah!
CHORUS: Her step was like the wild gazelle.
Her voice was soft and low,
But what she said I must not tell,
Nor would you care to know.
2. I caught her tender witching glance,
And slightly raised my hat.
Her beaming eyes began to dance.
My heart went pit-a-pat!
I blushed. My speech came very slow.
I looked down at her feet,
With my best grace bowed very low,
And led her to a seat. Ah!
3. I kissed her pouting coral lips.
Oh! it was bliss divine.
Her dimpled hands' pink fingertips
Stole slyly into mine.
I asked her if she loved me well.
She answered soft and low,
But what she said I must not tell.
Now wouldn't you like to know! Ah!
