Joe, I don't like 3-legged stands either, but they have physics going for them (I don't know how they could be "top-heavy" though; I guess you mean with the speaker on top). Good ones are stable but they all take up room.

I have a Behringer 9-channel powered mixer--bought for the band, but I don't like it--another story. It's fine for solo or duo gigs though. I[ want to replace it with a similiar mixer that has THE SAME OUTPUT LEVELS RIGHT ACROSS THE BOARD, like the Yamaha EMX I"m used to.
