I heard the sad news whilst on holiday when I bumped into Maclaine. Jim was such an inspiration in not only how he played but how he viewed life. With so many challenges he had to overcome in recent years he never lost his faith in what he could achieve. Our band played at his wedding and then at his mother in laws Golden Wedding. Playing hammered dulcimer like I do, in front of someone with Jims ability could be nerve racking but he made me feel very relaxed and he wanted to pass on as many tips as he could. My very best wishes go to Karen and her and Jims family. With great regret I wont be able to attend the funeral.
