my other half had two prolaxed discs. have you asked for a MRI scan, that will tell them what you are dealing with. she tried the injection, it made it worse, then the op, and that made it worse. she is now on fentanyl patches for the pain they give it to cancer patients and they work wonders. you could also try something else which i can't .remeber will post it tomorrow.
