Yes, there were delays last year, I remember now it was that fire. I see York races are on, so maybe multimap's route, up the A1(M) to the A19, almost to Teesside, then east on the A171 would be better.

Odd that Google says going via Pickering, 153m and 3hr 8min is best, while Multimap offers 174miles, 3hrs 46mins as the quickest.

Anyone know any reason not to use multimap's route.
There's nothing on http://www.trafficengland.com/trafficalerts.aspx, but then they don't mention York races either.
Ah! Arghhhh! Traffic England doesn't mention Leeds festival. That website says they are closing part of the the A64, I can't quite work out when and where. Maybe we'll go home via Market Weighton and M62. Or are there any festivals/roadworks/hippy convoys there too?
