I'm in the Bay Area, as are a bunch of other 'Catters. If you'd like to attend some folkish activities, there's several monthly get-togethers that take place. Chanteyranger, of course, leads the monthly sea chantey sing at the Hyde St. Pier on the first Saturday of each month, and the Harmony sing is held the first Wednesday in Berkeley. The San Francisco Folk Music club also has a monthly do, but I don't remember right now when it is.

Of course, after reading your family reunion story, you'd be entirely correct to want to spend every possible minute with your daughter, and who could blame you? On the other hand, it'd be delightful to meet you and welcome you here in person.
