The way I remember it from the 70's is:

Not last night, but the night before
24 robbers came knocking at my door.

As I went out to let them in
They hit me on the head with a rolling pin.

I asked them what they wanted

And this is what they said:
Spanish Dancer do a kick, split

Turn around, touch the ground,
Get out of town!

Spanish Dancer, come right back
Sit on a tack
Read a book, but do not look!
