Thread Name: BS: Guerilla days in Ireland by Tom Barry
Subject: BS: Guerilla days in Ireland by Tom Barry
While in Ireland this year, a copy of 'Guerilla Days in Ireland' by Tom Barry was given to me as a thank-you gift by a cousin of my wife's when he and his wife spent a week with us in our house in Co. Cork.   This particular copy is a hardback re-printed in 1955 (first published in was 1949). In the front of the book, someone has glued a Brook Bond Tea collectors card from a set issued in 1967 which shows the Republic of Ireland flag and below it a celtic harp on a blue shield surrounded by shamrock. More interesting though is that the book has been signed on the fly leaf at the back of the book:   K Deasy, April 9th 1962. The initial K is not very clear, but the rest is very clear. It's a long shot I know, but I am curious to know whether this Deasy might have been related to Liam Deasy who served in the Flying Column in West Cork which was commanded by Tom Barry. I've tried google, but can find nothing about Liam Deasy outside of his links with the IRA and the war of independence. Anyone got any ideas?
