Subject: RE: Flag Poles at Festivals
Some years back when I was going Bromyard, some chums were going too but because of work committments couldn't get there 'til late on the Friday & asked me to take & erect their tent there as I'd be on site much earlier.

This was in the days before mobile phones were available, so we worked out a cunning plan so they'd be able to locate me & their pitch when they arrived.

It was to hang an old pair of my friends shorts [not underpants] from a tall tentpole, that'd be visible to them searching.

As it happened, the place where I'd found pitches for our tents was surrounded by tallish camper vans, caravans & bigger tents.

Luckily, Jan's Blackboard Van was nearby & I was able to borrow some long bamboo canes to stick on the end of my steel tent poles, so the whole height was about 30ft.

When they arrived during the evening, they were able to spot it straightaway & we all lived happily ever after!!

Mr Red , as regards danger, the rigid bits were tied to my car & the bamboo poles were slight & light & of course as soon as the object of the erection was done with, I took it all down.

However, I do agree that some've today's taller structures could become a safety risk & site organisers should be aware of the issue
