I called a mover and had the old refrigerator in the basement hauled away. Cost a bit, but I'm glad to have it out. It was the one left behind by the previous owners, and I kept it in the basement for over-flow, but it's been unplugged for many years. Edison has a recycling program, but it's only for appliances that work; I plugged it in but it wouldn't run, so it didn't qualify.
