One of the fastest growing businesses in this part of the country (and probably others, but I haven't been around to take a look) is storage lockers. I had to use a couple after my parents died and when I was in the process of moving from a house to an apartment and then back to a house. They have been very useful, and in the instance of the one I used for my Dad's stuff, it was a good "cooling off" place to park things. By the time I was ready to move the stuff the pain of his sudden death had begun to subside and I could move forward.
I have resolved to never use one just to store junk I don't have room for in the house. If I'm moving, that's one thing, but if it's for junk, then it's time to get rid of junk.
I'm looking into the trunks I have here from my great aunt's estate. I need to move out enough contents from a couple of those and move each trunk itself out. My kids don't need to be fooling with all of this old stuff, as interesting as it is. I'll let them look through what I'm planning to sell so I don't get rid of something they have to have, but most of it is interesting but it's okay with all of us to sell.
