While it might be too noisy to play a few tunes on the median, perhaps you two can agree to pull over at the same rest area, preferably one with good acoustics in the men's room? If you chose to stop at a rest area just entering one of the states then they might have a welcome center lobby where you could set out your guitar cases and sing and play; do a little busking.
