I think they've been well fed, Supper and breakfast, nearly in keeping with the delightful concert they gave in order TO get fed on the way to Festival.

Last night's Cleveland houseconcert was a rousing success, with a range of hard core traditional folkies and singers to a trio of church ladies who "go to interesting things." John & Debra took turns, and the back-and-forth surging and waning of subjects (hanging started the evening off) to stream of consciousness to lack of concsciousness ("If I'd known I was going to do this, I'd have worked it up!") was much like the best of a festival workshop. Concertina and guitar were on a par with acapella renditions - something we get very very VERY little of in Cleveland. The range of kinds and styles of songs in these two performer's repertoire is more than passingly awesome, just being able to pull things out of the air. For folks who had recordings, in particular John's new solo album, while they weren't shy about having recordings for sale at the half. NEVER ONCE did either of them say "this is off my new/old/amazingly fine recording" as a song intro. It was all about the joy of sharing songs.

WOOT! what a night!

End of the evening found us supping in a pub with some local performers. We got the pub to turn off the sound so Dermot and John could have at "Lowlands" with the ten at the table chiming in.

This was about as much fun as one can have on a Thursday night. Michigan, Illinios and PA are in for a great time!
