I love it when the outside gets cleared. Unfortunately, me being me, it soon fills up again!

The first coat of a damp resistant grey slurry has been painted onto the exposed brickwork near the damp course. The bricks, however, are extremely old. I knew the lower courses of both the interior walls and the inner layer of the outer walls looked like the builders had reused bricks from the 18th century barn that was on the site, but last night I spoke to the guy who used to live in the old farmhouse next door, and he said they had traced it back to 1713! So there is Peter this morning trying to brush this grey gunk onto porous handmade bricks that are trying to chuck down more brick dust, as they are probably nearly 300 years old! he managed it, and will put a second coat on top on Monday, followed by render, then plaster and an epoxy membrane painted on the floors and up the walls a bit. Then, once he's put new skirting boards on, I can get some new floor coverings, and begin to put furniture back.

Should only be a week or two! The trick is going to be not replacing the clutter!
Then I can start on the remaining 2 rooms!
