Thread Name: When It's Over
Subject: RE: When It's Over
So cool to look back on this thread.

I'm watching The Beatles Anthology and seeing those fine boys get their man bones before my eyes all over again, but with older eyes. ( I was in my midthirties before I realized Paul was playing a BASS, not a 6-string.)

Man bones--just like our hockey team-- so cool to see boys become men. I'm envying them their excitement phase. (Charmion, you were so right.) I am not in a rush to get to some of the phases THEY got to. Music ruins lives, as Hardi and I joke all the time. I am sure it's ruining ours. :~)

Of course we're not "over" at all. In fact we are growing. As one member contemplates life in the not-so-distant future in one of the facilities where we used to go entertain people we "felt sorry for", another new member comes along with good young legs to tote equipment with aging Hardi and me (and Ed too if he allows), who invites friends to come sing along with us at the very same gigs we've always enjoyed the most. And there is still no one who does what we do, nor, I suspect, wants to.

To continue the above stream of overness:

When it's over, you're pickier about new material, because doing up a set of arrangements NOW is such a bore. "Oh, well, it's a song from Van Ronk, oh, OK, if I must...." stuff like that-- that we missed until now if you can believe it! (Thanks Dan and Dick)
