These are the words I know (from The Beach Boys), but I'm curious how old this song (in its various incarnations) is and who wrote it.
When I was a little baby, My mama would rock me in the cradle, In them old, cotton fields back home. :|
Oh when them cotton balls get rotten, You can't pick very much cotton, In them old, cotton fields back home. It was down in Louisiana, Just about a mile from Texarkana, In them old, cotton fields back home. :|
Ferlin Husky recorded the song, as did Johnny Cash, CCR and others, and I've seen it attributed to Leadbelly, but I'm not sure he originated the song or if he had more verses.
