JohnInKansas Thank you!!! This forum has been fantastic! The info you have provided is the exact kind of info festival goers need. Last year was tough. I did not know where to go. I was just lucky to get a hold of a friend about one hour before driving aimlessly toward Winfield. My friend directed me to Oxford and it ended up being a great time as always. Now, if I may, I would like to ask you a couple of specific questions. What is the current condition of the bayou? (extreme west walnut grove) and.. Will the bayou be underwater or just really muddy by Tuesday? What are your or the 'experts' current predictions? Also, are you familiar with camp super pickle or thistle pickle or whatever they call themselves. I have failed to contact them and would like to know if they decide to set up at the fairgrounds or if they bail to Oxford or the lake. Thanks in advance -John (Oh and thanks to everyone who has contributed info)

P.S. To Johnby in hartford, ks .. I am sorry to hear that you have decided not to come. I agree that the festival organizers could have done a better job giving more detailed info last year. The info I got from the website and from calling was from the perspective of the organizers. When what I really needed is info from the perspective of campers. Which I have found out to be very different. Organizers just don't seem to understand what we want and need. I am sure that the fairground flooding issue has been a hot topic in Winfield for a long time. It has probably been an issue for many events that occur there every year. Unfortunately, the only 2 options are probably to build a dam or relocate the fair grounds. Both would require millions of dollars. I am going to write a song called 'Damn, Build a Dam'. If you come to the festival I will sing it for you.
