Thread Name: Lyr Req: 160 acres/A Hundred and Sixty Acres
Subject: ADD: A Hundred and Sixty Acres
Here's the whole thing, as recorded by the Sons of the Pioneers. I don't have the date of this recording.
Melissa, what do you hear for the kind of stove? Best I can guess is "coal stove," although it sounds more like "cold stove."
A HUNDRED AND SIXTY ACRES
(Dave Kapp)
I've got a hundred and sixty acres in the valley.
I've got a hundred and sixty acres of the best.
Got a coal(?) stove there that'll cook three squares,
And a bunk where I can lay me down to rest.
Up at dawn to greet the sun,
I've forgotten what a care or worry means.
Head for home when day is done
And the pocket money's jinglin' in my jeans.
I've got a hundred and sixty acres full of sunshine.
I've got a hundred and sixty million stars above.
Got an old paint hoss. I'm the guy who's boss
On the hundred and sixty acres that I love.

Where the mountains meet the sky
There's a spot that's all my own
Wouldn't trade it for a world of gold
It's my home sweet home
I've got a hundred and sixty acres in the valley.

spoken: Why, that's a quarter of a country section
The hundred and sixty acres that I love.
