Janie, I especially liked the part (I read it in hard-copy last week) where it described supposedly enlightened parents who refused to discuss race with their children, and figured that they would be "naturally" colorblind.   One exchange: mother tells child (apparently repeatedly), "everyone is equal". Child finally responds to mother, "what does 'equal' mean?".
