Since then I've worked at a refinery in California which has been in place for over a hundred years. Their first distributed power was not in electric lines, but in steam lines. And steam had a deeply researched technology similar to electricity, I learned. While we electrical folk talk of voltage, resistance, and current, the steam people talk of pressure, water, and flow.

And the consequences of a fault are similar- BURNS!
