Except that my "local techie" oftentimes doesn't know as much as I do, and what she charges for a power supply replacement would be a good down payment on a new computer - or what it would cost for me to get a new power supply and install it.

I'm beginning to think I'm best off to buy a computer of moderate quality and plan to keep it for two years or until it aggravates me; rather than buying a high-end computer and planning to keep it for three to four years. My current computer, not quite three years old, has been aggravating me for a good six months. Still, I plan to rebuild it as a Linux computer when Google comes out with its version of Linux.
