I missed this the first time - what terrible news. John was a true gentleman - always good company and a gracious host. I have warm memories of August evenings at his beautiful house in St. John, circled around outside with singers and fiddles and humor.

I only knew John in the past 10 years or so, but I liked him very much, and considered him a friend. I'm incredibly sad to hear of his sudden and untimely death, and my heart goes out to Pip, and to all the folks who knew him so much better.

This makes me very very sad.
