MURPHY, JOHN DOUGLAS JAMES - The death of John Murphy of Hampton, husband of Pip Murphy, occurred unexpectedly September 15, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was born in London, England, son of the late Con and Kath (Gibbons) Murphy. John was dearly loved by his family and friends. He was a gifted and respected teacher, artist, musician, actor, designer and human rights advocate. He is survived by his wife, Pip; two daughters, Alison Murphy (Lee Bichard), Upham, and Anna Saindon (Joey), Fredericton; two grandchildren, Lily and Molly Murphy; one sister, Dee Murphy (Kevin), Broseley, England; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Peter Murphy. There will be no visitation by request. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Alphonsus Church, Hampton on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at 10:00 am. A reception will follow in the church hall. Interment will take place in Hampton Rural Cemetery at a later date. Memorials to Amnesty International, John Peters Humphrey Foundation, Piggs Peak Partnership or Doctors Without Boarders would be appreciated by the family.
