I got a lovely CD from a shop in Sheffield a couple of weeks back - All sorts of Scottish goodies and marketed as a sampler - Here it is on Amazon.

Now, look down the list to number 11 and what do you see? Our (Salford's) own Mr M with an exceptionaly good version of Dirty Old Town. I have been used to seeing this appear on compilations of Irish music, but I must say it is the first time I have seen it labeled as Scottish folk!

BTW - I always reckoned that when Mr Miller, as was, moved to Scotland he was in the local pub one night and overheard the miners chatting. One of them said 'I was doon the mine, 'ewin ma coal'...
