The difference between computers manufactured today and computers manufactured five years ago isn't as great as a five year gap from say 1985 to 1990 or 1995 to 2000. The peripherals are getting more fancy, fast, and larger. But a five year old computer is still a pretty powerful thing, and is something much of the world would be happy to have. We now need to resist the temptation to switch out computers for the same reason it's silly to buy a new car when your five year-old car is still working perfectly well, but the style has changed a little. Fashion shouldn't be the motivating factor in deciding to buy anything.
