This is some research I've been working on in conjunction with the 8-week health plan I'm working on. I wanted to see what they considered "inflammatory" foods, and he discusses it clearly here. I have come across the term "inflammation" in conjunction with diet several times, but never had a clear grasp of what they meant. I guess visualizing upset blood vessels isn't too far off!
I had a call from Moonglow this morning, she wasn't feeling good. I insisted she make an appointment at the campus health clinic, and they say that she is early into H1N1. Early enough that Tamiflu should do her a world of good, and they'll also follow the directions of her hematologist, with a precautionary antibiotic he recommends (she carries a letter with her with these instructions, ever since surgery to remove her spleen a couple of years ago).
Looks like I'll be on call to deliver chicken soup or health care services. Her boyfriend has been ill for a couple of days already, but keeping her distance and sleeping in the living room wasn't enough to avoid the bug. I'll get a flu shot at work tomorrow. Not the H1N1 shot, but at least the first flu shot.
