I've had Windows Vista at home for over two years now (on a machine from new) and it has regularly crashed (goes to blue screen) even when I've closed all application and clicked on the shut down button. Recently, however, it seems to be crashing a lot more often than it did, before it was a pain now it's getting to the point of throwing the effign thing through the window.

Before resorting to professionals or spending money are there any checks I can carry out or settings I can manipulate that could help?
