I met Nick when we both arrived at Leeds University (as well as Steve W). He was great company from the beginning. We shared a flat (with Dave Harkess) where I remember Roger Knowles coming round to practice with Nick.

Nick introduced me to lots of music which was previously unknown to me and I have never lost a love of much country music since then. We had many great nights in the clubs in Leeds.

He was a wonderfully talented musician of great versatility but he will probably best be remembered for his remarkable mandolin playing.

He will be greatly missed by many people.
