Thread Name: New Sailortown Days CD-Charley Noble
Subject: New Sailortown Days CD-Charley Noble
My new Sailortown Days CD is now available for review and purchase. The songs selection is similar to my previous CD's, nautical poems from C. Fox Smith, John Masefield, Burt Franklin Jenness that I've adapted for singing. Other nautical songs by Ron Baxter (UK) and Rudy Sunde (NZ) that I'm reinforcing because I think they're fine songs. There's also Gerry Hallom's arrangement of the Henry Lawson poem "The Outside Track. Then there's a favorite song by Jon Campbell that I've adapted for Sidney, Australia. Micci Perry's fine song commemorating the Lady Washington's encounter with a recalcitrant railway bridge is also included. Finally there's a working waterfront protest song which commemorates a battle waged along the Portland waterfront in the 1980's, and a song I composed that has nothing to do with the sea but would be nice to sing around a camp fire.
Here's the track list:
1 Sea Traders
2 Mobile Bay
3 Tramps (Coaling Shanty)
4 Auckland to the Bluff
5 A Ballad of the Old Navy
6 The News in Daly's Bar
