The English lyrics transcribed from sheet music above by Jim Dixon may have a typo (c for e):

Beneath the caves his little mate is waiting
Beneath the leaves where all his treasures lie.

I think "caves" is a typo. A nest "beneath the eaves" is at least as likely as "beneath the caves," and "eaves" would rhyme with "leaves."
