Thread Name: Lyr Add: For Food In A World
Subject: For Food In A World
Sometimes known as the "World Hunger Grace", the words are attributed to Manfred Wester (copyright 1985 Gisela Wester). I don't think the source was known to the composer of the usual tune for these words, at least at the time of writing the tune, about 1969. The tune is the property of (I think) the Girl Guides of Canada which has published it in songbooks. It also appears in the current United Church of Canada hymnbook (#551). My reason for mentioning this personal, my Dad (Bob Crocker) wrote the tune, and it is the grace I say to myself or with others before meals. Dad's funeral is tomorrow, and sometime I'd like to share the tune with you, Hearme style, if I'm ever equiped so. I do regret that Dad won't be here to hear it.

For Food In A World

For (G)food in a (C)world (D)where (Em)many walk (D)in (G)(D)hunger,

For (Bm)faith in a (Em)world (Am)where (G)many walk in (D)fear,

For (C)friends in a world (Am)where (Bm)many walk a(D)lone,

We (G)give You (C)humble (G)thanks, (D)O (G)Lord.

The chords are mine, in the key of G to make fingerstyle arrangements easier, though Dad preferred F.

There may be those of you who know this already, and if you do, keep singing it. Thanks.

Peace, Love and Understanding. Mooh.
