"I was wondering today what native Americans think of Columbus Day..."

My 11 year old son's best friend is a Native American. Monday morning he called to say he would not be going to school because it was a holiday in his religion. He told us last night that it was actually a day of mourning over the fact that Columbus 'discovered' America.
