Its a great thing to do, to rehome from animal rescue centres. We have two ponies, Hamish and Betty.

Betty was rescued from a particularly cruel owner who has since been sent to prison for his treatment of her and her two companions. The charity who saved them decided the best thing was to split them up as when one became anxious all three did, so we took Betty. She's completely black except for a white star and slightly taller than a Shetland, a dainty little thing. We've had her three years now and she will follow Hamish over to see you (we've had him 10 years), but you have to do everything very slowly and make sure she can see you all the time, she doesnt like being surprised. The charity come to check on her every 6 months and Emma our field officer is very pleased with her progress.

Its lovely when Betty comes to you in the field and sniffs your hand and you know she is beginning to trust you.
