There's been a lot of good advice here, and I can't add to that, but I did run into a couple of useful tips when my marriage broke up.
1) You're under stress, and that will lower your reaction time, so be extra careful when driving.
2) Likewise, your attention span goes down. I'm a librarian, and I found I couldn't pay attention to adult-level fiction for my bedtime reading, more like fourth grade level. Same thing happened to a friend when she left her abusive husband. Don't be scared, it came back for both of us.
3) Short term memory can suffer as well, but writing yourself a note can compensate.
4) Avoid snap decisions, especially big ones. But you've figured that one out. *g*
5) And one last bit that oddly makes sense. Aviod country music, even if you like it. The subject of most of the songs will only bum you out. (Traditional ballads didn't bother me, though). Even if you don't care for it, classical music is a good choice for the car radio.
6) I found some helpful books at the library, and you might as well. It's been a while, but How to Survive the Loss of a Love by Melba Colgrove (1991) might still be around.
