I have played a schlagwerk for years now and I am very happy with it.As long as it has a good bottom end any will do. I have also bought the add on's which you mentioned but haven't tried them out yet. Knock on Wood are selling a build yourself kit cajon for a very good price but I don't know what they sound like.
