MOTIVATION TIP

After I post here that I have decided to get rid of an item (or bunch of items), but before I bag or box them and bring them downstairs-- I list them at FreeCycle. I leave them right where they are until a FC-er schedules a pickup! This means that stuff that can and will actually leave does not clutter up my downstairs at any point.

Stuff that no one wants is simply bagged up for disposal and rolled downstairs and OUT on trash night.

It's amazing how much energy there is to move stuff the moment someone else actually wants or needs that stuff. At that moment the stuff is transformed-- it is no longer trash I must deal with ("sigh..."), but valuable property belonging to someone else.
