Thread Name: Tune Add: The Cotillion
Subject: RE: Tune Add: The Cotillion
Thanks for posting this fine tune, Mr. Happy. My band will play it this Sunday.

As I was working with the file, I realized that I don't know exactly what a cotillion is. I've seen the word all my life and accepted it as some of kind of dance. So I looked the word up.

Main Entry: co·til·lion
Function: noun
Etymology: French cotillon, literally, petticoat, from Old French, from cote coat
Date: 1728
1 : a ballroom dance for couples that resembles the quadrille
2 : an elaborate dance with frequent changing of partners carried out under the leadership of one couple at formal balls
3 : a formal ball

It's interesting that the word derives from 'petticoat.'
