Subject: RE: recognisable tunes for Radio jingles?
Don't know if this will be any help, but might give you some ideas of adaptable tunes of the sort you seem to want. Some years ago I was asked to play Amiens, the singing courtier-foreater, in a hippy-style production of As You Like It, doubling as musical director by setting the songs to traditional tunes. The ones I used were — Under The Greenwood Tree to the tune of The Gentleman Soldier; Blow Blow Thou Winter Wind to Here's Adieu Sweet Lovely Nancy; It Was A Lover And His Lass to The Little Beggarman; What Shall He Have Who Killed The Deer? to Hal-An-Tow; Wedding Is Great Juno's Crown to Kelvingrove (The Shearing's Not For You).
