Subject: RE: BS: Cork City a fantastic destination
A friend and I went for a weekend a few years back, largely because the now-defunct Air Wales was a) flying from Swansea Airfield (n.b. 'field' not 'port'), b) advertising for stewardesses who "must be under 5'3" which got my curiosity going and c) flying to Cork, which I'd never visited.

I had a really, really, really good time.

Went to the English market, and the cathedral, and a pub on t'other side of the river (Sin-e or something?) which had good music. We also met a lovely old gentleman there who knew a lot about Wales and tons about local history. We had some very good meals. We took a bus to Kinsale, and we also went down on the train to Cobh which was tremendously interesting. The day we flew in, the ship "The World" was in port which I thought was tempting fate rather - given Cobh's connection with other famous shipwrecks.

Yep. Full marks to Cork. Loved it.
