Our Casablanca ceiling fan with a light suddenly developed a very weird malady. It works fine with the pull chains for the light or the fan. There are two wall switches, one on each end of a staircase, and either one can turn the thing on or off if the light or fan is left on via the chain. Past tense.

All of a sudden, the wall switches can NOT turn the light or fan off unless the switch is moved to the MIDDLE position, where there isn't really a position. Toggling either switch up or down does nothing, and the light stays on. Holding it in the middle of the switch path causes the light to go out. We tried replacing both switches, to no avail.

Casablanca doesn't know what the problem is but suggests buying a new circuit board for the fan plus tax plus shipping plus re-stock fee plus more shipping if we return it because it doesn't solve the problem.

Any ideas?
