A martini was once gin & vermouth with an olive. Now gin OR vodka and anything else can be called a martini of sorts. Even just a glass of gin.

Similarly, the concept of poutine has expanded. Fries, some sort of cheese, & anything (including garlicI suppose) will be termed some-sort-of-poutine.
