I love the Philly Folk Fest in a theoretical sort of way, and I am happy for its success, but I have never attended it although it is an easy drive from my home.Too eclectic My musical activity has been focused almost exclusively on Old Time music for decades. The PFF often has OT music, but not enough and rarely my (rather obscure) favorites.
Too big While I am not agoraphobic, the PFF attracts crowds of people big enough to make me nervous. The Brandywine Mountain Music Convention (defunct) and Appalachian String Band Festival at Clifftop WV are "just right."
Too regimented If I want to say "Hi" to an old friend, ask a technical question, or make a comment, I prefer to be able to wander backstage to do so.
