A better development would have been to reinstate the Great Central Railway for its originally intended purpose- a high speed rail link to Europe via the Channel Tunnel. Some vision for the 1890's! That would have kickstarted economic development in Leicester worth a hundred leisure centres. But I bet some council clique have got grubby fingers in some developer's pie.
