I can't see any reason why you shouldn't try it.

But if you want to make sound recordings available for free, consider signing up to MySpace as a "band" - it doesn't matter if there's only one of you, their idea of a "band" is anyone that has streaming music available on its page. You can upload up to ten tracks, I think, and change them any time. It also means you can write stuff about the music and yourself on the page. And it's free!
