Subject: RE: BS: NUTS!
PiƱon pine nuts are from the tree of the same name, a native of the western United States.

Pine nuts are the seeds of the tree and can be grown anywhere, but no nuts for about the first 10 years.

Cones open in the fall and nuts (seeds) fall out, they are ready to harvest.

Digger pine and Coulter pine have huge cones and larger pine nuts, but require a sledge hammer or jackhammer to open.
