They say familiarity breeds contempt. Well, the house in which I grew up was located on land that was formerly a pecan orchard. We had two very productive pecan trees in our yard and had severe pecan glut every autumn. We gave away pecans in the fall the way green thumbed gardeners give away zucchini in the summer, and still had three or four large grocery bags full of them in the pantry year-round. I've had my fill of pecans and don't care if I never see another of them. You can have my share.
