I don't know the story on the lapis. My aunt had a beautiful ring with three ancient lapis scarabs from Egypt. It wasn't until she had it cleaned that she was able to get a good look at it and see the heiroglyphs underneath (they were an ancient seal to press in wax or clay that came in threes).

I'm at work to get photos of an event this evening, and then race home and see about getting my son set up for the SAT tomorrow and to fill out more of his paperwork for college applications. Tomorrow night I may have three overnight guests, so I have to scramble to get things picked up during the day. I've put up some lights outside, but nothing inside yet. I suppose I should do the mantle at least. I have lots of nutcrackers that I put out some years, and last year I put every piece of shiny crystal (glassware, not rocks) up and put shiny glass balls in the bowls and glasses. I have some uplights on them and it was stunning! I need to dust and wash the glass if I'm going to do that again.
