That is part of the trouble I think, Vic — the old art of 'sub-editing' is being entirely forgotten now that no-one works with hot-metal any more, but just edits by cut&paste on a screen. The specialist whose job was to make sure copy read coherently and was free of literals and other misprints isn't to be found around the office any more, I suspect.
